It’s impossible to add your music directly to Tiktok because of copyright issues. Tiktok disabled the ability to upload music directly to the platform to ensure the protection of property rights.
But, if you’re like me that don’t easily give up, then you may want to know some other basic video editing skills to make your content stand out.
Better still, if you own the right to the song and would like to use it on Tiktok, I highly recommend you distribute your songs to the platform.
That way, you can make money from it whilst other content creators use it (More details below).
Before I show you how to add your song to Tiktok, let’s take a look at why TikTok discontinued it in the first place.
4 Reasons You Can’t Add Your Music To Tiktok
1. All songs on the TikTok library are distributed/licensed not uploaded.
Tiktok library is filled with a meaty number of songs, but they are not uploaded. They are distributed by platforms like Tunecore, Distrokid, Ditto Music, etc…
What these platforms do is help musicians distribute their songs to Spotify, iTunes, Shazam, YouTube Music, TikTok, etc…
Then, Tiktok as an entertainment zone incorporated iTunes into their platforms. That way, musicians make money whenever you use their songs on your videos.
This is also applicable to Instagram, Snapchat, Likee, etc…
It usually requires a token to distribute your songs through Tunecore, Distrokid, etc…
2. To Protect Rights Of Artistes
The second reason Tiktok discontinued adding music is to maintain copyright laws.
Take, for example, you released a track and after spending a ton of money someone comes to claim it, what evidence would you have to prove ownership?
3. To Help Musicians Make Money From Their Craft
You’ll agree with me that every investor should have a return on investment.
Music distribution aims to help artiste make a living from streams on these platforms.
I know it may be difficult to understand, that is why created this ultimate guide to the difference between music promotion and music distribution.
